Learning Updates

Literacy: Grade 3 students learned all about prefixes this week. Some common ones include un-, dis-, pre- and re-. In writing, we wrote about how to make a snowman trap. Then we connected it with Science and used Makerspace materials to make our plan and trap come to life!

Math: Our focus this week was regrouping with addition and subtraction. See below for some helpful visuals and practice questions!

Science: We reviewed a few misunderstandings in the states of matter topic. Then we moved on to a new topic called Force. Students learned about motion, forces like push or pull, and Sir Isaac Newton's First Law.

Art: We made a beautiful Rocky Mountains landscape art as inspiration from our recent Alberta regions learning! Grade 3 students had to take a risk and draw using permanent markers right away. We used watercolour paint for the sky and added salt on top to create the details of the stars.

Wellness: Students reviewed Canada's food guide and made a plate of food that they commonly eat at home. They also included food that are healthy and they want to try one day!
