Important Reminders
1. Our field trip to Hangar Flight Museum is next Wednesday, May 6. Please arrive at school on time! A reminder email with important information will be sent on Tuesday.
2. Wednesday, May 6 is also Hats on for Mental Health Day. Feel free to wear a hat or headwear!
3. Family Dance fliers were sent home this week! Please see Mrs. Brinson's weekly updates for more information too.
Learning Updates
*Students will receive a Math assessment next week around the foundational skills around addition, subtraction, regrouping, multiplication, division, number sense and word problems. I'll will share the results with families and provide any suggestions for additional practice!
Literacy: Grade 3 students focused on elements of a story. We listened to stories, watched stories, and wrote stories! We reviewed what stories need and practiced the writing processes through daily story writing.
Math: This week, our students reviewed fractions on a number line and how to compare fractions with the same and different denominators. We also completed a Show What You Know. We reviewed algebra too and engaged in lots of fun practice!
Science: Grade 3 students learned about how plants and animals use their senses to learn about their surroundings too. We learned what stimuli means and became nature protectors!
Social Studies: We focused on learning about important symbols that represent Alberta, including the Alberta flag and Coat of Arms. We labelled their parts and made our own coat of arms that represent who we are!
Art: We engaged in an exciting Mother's Day activity. It'll be a surprise but a new skill we learned was weaving!
Student Highlights
Charvi said: On Monday, we did something for our bus drivers and made a small bus and I was in charge of making a bus and a message. Anshu, Aaliyah, Angela, and Emma also made a bus and wrote a message.
Anshu said: On Monday, because Mr. Newton was sick, we had another recess outside in the morning.
Yui said: On Tuesday, in gym, we started to play badminton. We go to three stations and the first station is badminton, the second one is paddles and the third one is partners.
Emma said: On Tuesday in Math, we played a game as a class and then we went to gym. Then we came back to finish it and then we played a game of Blooket because to learn about fractions. And Angela won twice!
Xavier said: On Tuesday in Music, we did Music Madness and music sharing. I put my name on the wheel but a lot of people did sharing.
Idres said: On Thursday, we did algebra practice in the computers. We have to find a missing number in a equation.
Yoon said: On Wednesday or yesterday, in writing, we wrote about pictures with dinosaurs in it. We already did the plans on Tuesday and then on Wednesday, we wrote without worries and on Thursday or today, we edit and revise with CUPS and ARMS.
Kain said: On Thursday, in gym, we did some games with badminton rackets.
Neepseese said: On Friday, we made Mother's Day gifts for our special moms.
